Záruky.sk is our own product, built and operated by Proficient Solutions. It’s a mobile-first web application designed specifically for Slovak retailers to help them track product warranties, avoid regulatory fines, and reduce losses from expired products.
The system is built using Next.js and is heavily optimized for phones, tablets, and desktop devices used in real retail environments.
We didn’t just design and build this system — we run it in production, support real users, and continuously improve it based on real operational needs.
The Problem
In retail, warranty management is often handled manually or inconsistently.
Products with expired warranties lead to unnecessary losses, and missed regulatory requirements can result in fines.
Retailers typically face:
- fragmented or manual warranty tracking
- a high risk of human error
- products discovered only *after* the warranty has already expired
These problems are operational, repetitive, and expensive — especially at scale.
Our Approach
We built Záruky.sk as a mobile-first web application, optimized for fast and reliable use directly on shop-floor devices — without requiring native app installation or platform-specific builds.
Production-Grade Scanning
For barcode scanning, we deliberately integrated a licensed, production-grade scanning SDK from Scandit.
This ensures fast and accurate EAN recognition across a wide range of devices and lighting conditions — something that would be risky and time-consuming to replicate from scratch.

Around this foundation, we designed the core business logic, data model, and workflows that make the system reliable, predictable, and maintainable long-term.

Why a Web Application (Not Native)
Záruky.sk was intentionally built as a web application.
Retail teams need instant access across devices, minimal onboarding friction, and predictable behavior without app store dependencies. A modern web stack allows centralized updates, fast iteration, and consistent behavior across phones, tablets, and desktops — while still delivering a mobile-first user experience.
Why Custom Software Was Necessary
This was not a problem that existing off-the-shelf tools solved well.
